Our Family

Prazak Braunvieh Farm is nestled in the heart of Washington County and Brenham, Texas. We would like to give you a bit more information about Prazak Braunvieh Farm and how it all got started.

Paul grew up in the small town of East Bernard, TX and knows the farm and ranch life quite well. He was also very active in both 4H and FFA over the years and wants to continue working with his own children as well as others because knowledge and experience of the family farm is slowly fading away. Paul graduated from Texas A&M University with a double major in Dairy Science and Agronomy and is the Fight’n Aggie Class of 1995. Paul met his wife Jennifer during their last year of college and were married in October 1998. Jennifer is a graduate of Southwest Texas State University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Jennifer is a teacher at Brenham Elementary School. They have two children, Hunter and Shelby and are very proud of their accomplishments to date.

Although Paul raised commercial cattle as well as several registered Limousin and Simmental cattle over the years, he also raised Brown Swiss cattle for many years. He was introduced to the Braunvieh Breed in 1995 and at that point he was hooked and knew he wanted a herd of his own at some point in his life. That opportunity came in 2011 when he started his herd with just 3 Braunvieh cows. The herd continued to grow when Hunter caught a calf in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Hunter bought his first Braunvieh heifer from Broken Oak Ranch and Shelby also started with her first Braunvieh heifer at the same time. As the show careers for Hunter and Shelby began to develop, Paul also started to focus on building the herd and concentrate on genetics as well. Over the years Prazak Braunvieh Farm bought several head of cattle from Broken Oak Ranch to continue building the herd. In 2017 and going into 2018, the ranch purchased more Braunviehs from Broken Oak and this included some really great genetics and awesome cattle. Prazak Braunvieh Farm now has over 75 head of cattle and it continues to grow. The focus is on genetics which involves not only AI but also embryo flushing and transfers.

Prazak Braunvieh Farm wants to continue enhancing the breed in many ways. Working with the youth is an ongoing focus to help promote the Braunvieh breed. Hunter and Shelby are also active and junior board members in both the Junior National Braunvieh Association as well as the Texas Braunvieh Association. Educating our youth and the public about the Braunvieh Breed is going to be crucial in helping the breed grow. The future looks bright and looking forward to raising some awesome Braunvieh cattle in the future.
